Biography

Dr. Strom’s primary interested is in hepatocyte transplants. His laboratory was the first to use allogeneic hepatocyte transplantation to treat patients with liver disease. His current work also includes generating hepatocytes from stem cells for clinical transplants, and his team is engaged in a program to use stem cells from human amnion to treat metabolic liver disease and acute liver failure in the clinic.
Dr. Strom was President of the Cell Transplant Society (2010-2013) and editor for hepatocytes for the Journal Cell Transplantation and others. He is currently, Professor of Cell Transplantation and Regenerative Medicine, Dep. of Laboratory Medicine, Division of Pathology, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm Sweden.
